This weekend DIY is a year overdue. I realised that I never shared my weekend make-over of my lounge and dining room. I thought it was about time I shared this with you.
When I moved into my little flat, I was unsure of how to decorate it as my sister and I couldn’t come to an agreement so nothing happened until I got married. She had been moved out when she got married a few months before and I started thinking of ways to decorate.
With oregon pine furniture to start off with, I decided that painting the furniture an decorating the wall space would be a great way to start. I had nothing up on the walls either.

When I start a project, I like to finish it as soon as possible. So Annie Sloan Chalk Paint was the way to go.
It’s a chalk paint, therefore there is no need to strip any wood or varnish whatsoever. You simply choose the colours you like and start painting.
I decided on a black and white look for the furniture:

There is a wide range of colours and inspiration on the Annie Sloan website so you can do anything with your furniture.
I picked Graphite and Pure to achieve my black and white look.
I applied layers of paint for each colour and applied a clear soft wax that is supplied by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. It acts as a sealant and gives the paint a smoother finish.
It’s amazing what a paint job and some decor can transform a room.

Be a little impatient like me and make-over a room. I promise you, the satisfaction and awe you feel afterwards is priceless (Well, almost depending on how much you spend on decorating).
But seriously before you rush off and buy new furniture, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint will easily transform a room for you.
