To my darling Elena,
Two months of you and it has gone too fast.
As a family, we have found a routine. The way that everyone is excited to see you in the morning. Adriana loves to mother you. I’ve lost count how many kisses you have been smothered with between us three. She often tells me how you belong to her. She’s besotted!
I love the way you smile as I carry you out of your cot in the morning. Now you have started to “communicate” with us, your little coos and “aaaa” melts our hearts. Do not get me started on how your stretch your little chubby arms once I free you from you swaddle bag.
Your dark locks has a mind of its own as it curls and waves. I have lost count how many people have stopped us to comment on how much hair you have. I do find it amusing watching people’s reactions as they do a double-take when they look in our direction. You sister sarcastically rolls her eyes and sighs, “Mommy, it’s just hair”. I have had to remind her that not all babies have as much hair as you do. You have been mistaken for either a monkey (Yes! I’m not joking) or a baby doll. I prefer a baby doll
You are a beautiful and content baby who has seamlessly fitted into our little family like you have always been here.
I do not wish time away with you, I am trying my best to soak up every moment. I love your little fingers as they hold onto me as I put you down to sleep. The baby smells, the cuddles, and the smiles that dance across your little angelic as you sleep. It does pull on my heartstrings that you are filling out your outfits more snugly than before. It is a reminder of how quickly time passes. Even buying the next size of nappies is a little heartsore. Being the baby of the family, the last-born, it has made me appreciate my time with you. I wish I could bottle it all up.
Before your birth, we kept telling one another that by the time it’s Christmas there will be a new baby in our family. With Christmas around the corner, we cannot believe that you are here baby doll. Your first Christmas!
