Beauty and make-up enthusiasts understand the importance of a good pair of eyebrows. I was once told that eyebrows are not twins, they’re sisters as it is sometimes impossible to have identical eyebrows due to the asymmetry of your face and other factors such as “mini-cow licks”. I’ve settled for this fact.
Another thing that has stuck with me is that over plucking is a real thing and that your eyebrows eventually stop growing back.
I’ll never forget the skinny scary eyebrows on my eclectic art teacher back in 1999 that had me questioning her facial expressions. She looked constantly surprised which was confusing whenever a pupil asked her a question. Thankfully I never fell into that trap of endless tweezing regardless how girls raved about Christina Aguilera’s skinny brows.

The woolly caterpillars on my face were safe until they met their waxy match at the age of 13. Portuguese eyebrows don’t play games.
Fast-forward to 2016 and fuller manicured brows are being celebrated by make-up ranges and celebrities alike.
Now please tell me how on fleek these brows are…

Rihanna

Khloe Kardashian

Now that you finally agree a good pair of eyebrows is the best you can do for your face, follow these steps to achieve on fleek eyebrows
–If you have skinny eyebrows, drop the tweezers and step away from the mirror. You’ll need to grow your brows and it could take some time.
-Use castor oil or coconut oil (I’d opt for coconut, it doesn’t smell as bad) on your eyebrows to promote growth.
-Once your eyebrows have grown out a bit, pat yourself on the back and consider yourself lucky that your eyebrows can still grow. It’ll save you money in the long run.
-Visit a reputable professional beauty therapist. Someone that is known for creating amazing eyebrows. Please don’t skimp on this step, all your efforts of growing out your eyebrows will be a complete waste and you’ll end up in tears!
-Chat about the shape and look you want to achieve with your brows. Also be realistic about what brows you have and what you’ll get in the end.
-The professional will work her magic using either wax, threading, blades, tint or tweezers so don’t be alarmed. A master needs all her tools.
-Don’t be afraid to tint your eyebrows, the end result is perfection. What’s the point of having enviable eyebrows if they are so light and no one can see them, especially if you are a brunette (or a “box” brunette). It’s an instant fail and your face will always look incomplete.
-After achieving rockstar eyebrows, maintenance is key. Therefore decide whether you will doing or continue visiting a professional.
-Invest in a good pair of tweezers, eyebrow gel for unruly brows and a brow pencil for fill-ins.
-Remember to ONLY pluck stray hairs for maintenance purposes.
-If you are not able to grow your own brows back, there’s hope in the form of microblading.
Now go achieve brow greatness and never underestimate the power of eyebrows, unless you are Mona Lisa.
