Some people are still reveling on the fact that 2015 is over, “Oh my word, I can’t believe the year is over again”. Yeah, you better believe it within a mere few hours a new calendar year will start. I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions as it’s often easily forgotten about. I prefer doing some reflection on the past year and setting attainable lifestyle changes. It works out better for me.
Reflection on 2015
It was a sneaky, unforgettable insane year filled with changes. If you listed everything that would happen in 2015 to me on 1 January 2015, I’d actually ask if you’re on some type of drugs! Seriously, so much changed beyond my wildest dreams.
- 1. Got married (was a given but I never thought I was the marrying kind).

2. Got pushed out of my comfort zone more than I count on both hands.

3. Travelled to two incredibly cultured cities, Paris and Rome. I got to tick off so many things off my bucket list, including seeing countless pieces of art that I always wanted to see, Monet, Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Picasso, Michelangelo, Raphael… It was an incredible experience.

4. Went against my natural habits of obeying rules and resigned from my job.
5. Jumped into the freelance world sooner than I ever expected. It’s been an adjustment.

6. Never thought I’d do this but I went back to “radio”, joined my friend Jason at CliffCentral to co-host The Buzz with him and Jen Su.
7. Took control of my blog to build a brand. Running a one woman show, doing everything has been hard work. I’ve loved meeting the people I have along the way while doing what I love most.

8. Found out that we need move on and get a new home.
9. Reality hit with the news that my family is expanding by two extra feet in early July 2016 (Another surprise I didn’t anticipate this early but I’m excited about it).

10. Forgot about the concept “The Joneses”. Sorry but I just don’t give a shit about comparing my life to anyone else. It’s not me, I do my own thing. I am my own competition since I have my own dreams and goals.

11. Embraced the concept of doing nothing on holiday while at the coast.

12. Adopted a dog from the SPCA and it was the best decision to adopt instead of buying. Coco is such a joy to have in my home and a perfect addition to my 9 year old dog, Peanut.

With all that 2015 has taught and showed me, I’m excited to see the new adventures 2016 has for me.
May your own time of reflection outline the good times and the lessons you have learned on the way to be a better version of you.
Wishing you all the very best for 2016, and I’m glad to have you apart of my journey here at Hearts in Her Shoes.
Cheers!
