Met Gala 2014: Hits and Misses

New York City experienced a couture turnout with celebrities and stars walked the Red Carpet for the 2014 Met Gala.

With a $25 000 ticket, it’s no shabby do. Stylists surely tried to outdo each other in the name of fashion.

The theme of the night was White Tie and Diamonds which I think was misinterpreted by many.

Here are some looks that had me loss for words…

Lupita Nyong’o

The award winning actress had a sterling red carpet season and impressed many with her sophistication. This Prada looked failed miserably! Sorry Lupita this look wasn’t suited for the concrete jungle.

Lena Dunham

Girls’ funny leading lady had me aghast. Normally I’m cheering her on the Red Carpet but couldn’t this time round. I can’t wrap this up look up because I have no words… Next!

Kristen Stewart

The Twilight actress was almost unrecognisable with her usual sullen face. She’s actually a pretty girl when she smiles. So please smile Kristen. Dressed in Chanel, I don’t think this was a winning look for the evening but was not the worst. Maybe a little more time working with Chanel and Kristen will impress on the red carpet.

Hailee Steinfeld

The young actress looked grown up on the red carpet that I forgot that she’s only 17 years old. The custom Prabal Gurung gown looked elegant with stark contrasting colours.

Victoria and David Beckham

England’s celebrity “royal” couple showed that class need not be over the top. Victoria stunned in one of her own creations and accessorised with her debonair husband. Black and white combo never fails in my books! Simple, classic and timeless.

Blake Lively

All hail Blake! All hail Blake! This is what you call a bombshell. From flowing soft curls to her gorgeous curves. I can’t stop admiring this look. This Gucci creation for their darling Blake hit the proverbial nail on the head. This girl cannot go wrong!

Whose look was a hit or miss for you?
